Nan Laird is a professor of biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health and an associate member at the Broad Institute. Her primary interests are in statistical methods for genetic analysis. Together with her colleagues, she has developed methods and software for the analysis of family-based studies of genetic association, which are widely used. Her group has also developed analytical methods for combining data from whole genome linkage scans. In addition, she is involved in collaborations with researchers at the Broad Institute to study bipolar disorder, and with investigators at the Channing Laboratory of Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School to study asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
