Jim Gusella

Jim Gusella is Director of the Center for Human Genetic Research (CHGR) at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Bullard Professor of Neurogenetics in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and an associate member at the Broad Institute. He applies the genetic research cycle paradigm to disorders of the nervous system, including Huntington’s disease, Parkinson disease, autism spectrum disorders, neurofibromatosis and biotin-responsive basal ganglia disease. A major focus is the identification of genetic modifiers as entrées into the pathway of pathogenesis prior to symptomatic disease and as targets for therapeutic development. He is also working on gene discovery in development of the nervous system as part of the Developmental Genome Anatomy Project (DGAP).
